Acting for Film and TV

Grades 7-12

 Introduces students to the development of skills in performance, script, and character development for on-camera acting.  Students will develop a foundation of skills and techniques for acting and auditioning for the camera.  Classes are Mondays 5:30PM-6:30PM.

Acting II: In Depth Character Development & Scene Study

 Grades 7-12

 

In this class, older acting students will take the skills they’ve learned and put them to work.  They will read, study, and perform scenes from a play.  Previous experience preferred but not required.  Classes are on Tuesdays from 5:00PM-6:00PM.

CREATING CHARACTERS WITH COSTUMES, MAKE-UP, AND HAIR

GRADES 7-12

In this fun and creative course, students will build a costume based on a character of their choice, learn basic make-up skills for stage, and implement make-up and hair into their costume. Materials fee is included in the class fee; all supplies will be provided. Students will keep their costume at the end of class. All experience levels welcome. Classes are on Wednesdays 5:30PM-6:30PM

SEPTEMBER 18, 2019 - NOVEMBER 13, 2019 (9weeks)

Group Voice Lessons

GRADES 7-12

Students will learn basic vocal techniques, such as breath control, good tone quality, no stress vocalization, good vocal health, interpretation, and presentation. They will be exposed to all styles of song; Classical to Broadway, Jazz to Pop and things in between, all the while being age and skill appropriate for each student. 

The class will present a program of songs on the final day of classes. Wednesdays 5:30PM-6:30PM;

SEPTEMBER 18, 2019 - NOVEMBER 20, 2019 (10 weeks)

MUSICAL THEATRE GIVE MY REGARDS TO BROADWAY

GRADES 7-12

In this class, students will be taught songs from their favorite Broadway musicals! Students will also learn the scenes and dance numbers that accompany them. We will focus on proper vocal and dance techniques. The course will culminate in a musical theatre song and dance revue on the last day of class. All experience levels welcome. Each student should wear a pair of jazz shoes, ballet slippers, or sneaker-type shoes that are laced securely to the foot; no open-toed shoes. Students should dress comfortably so that they can stretch and move.

Teen Improvisation Class

Grades  7-12

Students will learn the techniques of Improvisational Theatre in a safe and       fun environment that fosters teamwork and creativity. Through games and exercises students learn commitment, scene work, and how to create characters in a moment’s time-all without a script. The class presents a final performance.   Classes are Tuesdays from 6:00PM-7:00PM.

PROP-MAKING

GRADES 7-12

Students will create props for the NRACT Holiday show Fruitcakes, creating everything from fake fruitcakes to whirligigs! All projects will remain at the theatre to be used in our December production. Students in the course will be invited to attend the preview of the show so they can see their work on stage! Thursdays 4:30PM-5:30PM
