For most of my childhood and adolescence, NRACT was a second home to me. Whenever I walked through those front doors, I knew I could fully be myself. Cast Camp, in particular, was always a highlight of my summers, when I would see all my theatre friends at once in one chaotic, fast-paced episode of putting on a show. It can be tough being a teenager in theatre - many of the roles are outside of that age range. Cast Camp gives teens the opportunity to play roles typically reserved for adults in the regular season (with only a small amount of script censoring where appropriate). I felt that the intensity of Cast Camp - having to put on a show in two weeks - was what bonded us all together. Everyone should have this opportunity, and I hope this scholarship enables some teenagers to experience what I was fortunate to experience all those years ago.
